The Falcon Way

At Wabasha-Kellogg we call PBIS the Falcon Way.  The Falcon Way exemplifies a culture of academic excellence by creating a safe, respectful and responsible learning community.  Activities throughout the year will be connected to the Falcon Way.  Teachers will provide lessons that share the expected behaviors for all areas of the school. Students are shown what it looks like to behave in a community of learners so that everyone can achieve their best.  These lessons can be applied to behavior not only in school, but also at home and in the community.

PBIS - What is it?

Community – A focus on creating a community of conscientious citizens where all know and feel that they belong.
Framework – a framework to help school personnel create a positive and supportive school environment that promotes success for all students.
Core Values – At Wabasha-Kellogg we have three core values our students and staff follow.

What you will see at W-K

  • Students being safe, respectful and responsible.
  • Falcon Way posters and matrices throughout the school.
  • A newly created Falcon Way bulletin board reminding students of our three core values.
  • Welcoming and positive staff living the Falcon Way.

Rewards & Recognition

In the elementary – students are able to earn Falcon Way tickets for a variety of positive behaviors (helping a friend, cleaning up garbage on the floor, being a positive leader, etc.) W-K staff will hand out tickets to students that they see living the Falcon Way.  Each week, several students are drawn for exemplifying the Falcon Way and receive incentives.  This includes: Luxury Lunch, Falcon gear and more!

In the secondary – students are nominated by staff for demonstrating they are living the Falcon Way by being safe, respectful and responsible both at school and in the community.  Every two weeks names are drawn for a variety of prizes and incentives.

Family & Community Resources

Families play an important role in supporting student success. Here are a few ways you can help at home:

  • Ask your child about their school day each day.
  • Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep
  • Provide a quiet, consistent space for homework
  • Stay in regular communication with your child’s teachers
  • Encourage the use of positive language and phrases
  • Be a consistent, supportive presence in your child’s school life
  • Attend school activities whenever your schedule allows

Small, everyday actions can make a big difference in your child’s learning and well-being.

Community: do you employ a Wabasha-Kellogg student?

  • Encourage core values at work.
  • Discuss how these core values can impact work environment.

We look forward to working in partnership with you as we embrace the Falcon Way.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.  A Falcon Way team members will be glad to discuss the program in depth with you.
