Scholarship Opportunities

Minnesota State College Southeast– Winona and Red Wing Campuses-

This scholarship is open to any WK High School graduate pursuing a degree or diploma in any program offered at Southeast in Winona or Red Wing. Application must be submitted within the first year after high school graduation. If no WK graduates apply for the scholarship, it will be opened to graduates from other high schools in Wabasha County.

The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the Southeast Scholarship Committee in relation to the number of candidates each year.  Application deadline for Fall 2024 awards is June 1, 2024.  Notification of awards will be made at the end of July. Dan Sobeck Memorial Scholarship

The Sobeck family will award a $1000 scholarship annually to a graduating Senior enrolled in a Trade School or an Apprenticeship Program for a trade.

This scholarship has been created by Dan’s wife and children in memory of him. Dan was a graduate of Wabasha-Kellogg High School and then later was the Head Custodian for the School District for several years. Dan encouraged students that were not college bound to continue their post high school education through a trade program that would help them achieve success in their career choice.

Any student who attends Wabasha-Kellogg High School, including those students who attend PSEO courses full-time or part-time are eligible to apply.

   TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
   * This scholarship is open to students who will be attending a trade school.
   * Scholarship will be mailed directly to the recipient’s post-secondary school after proof of completion of first quarter/semester.

   APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
   *This scholarship program is open to students entering a paid apprenticeship program for a trade.  Scholarship funds may be used for reimbursement of classroom training expense, books, tools and equipment required for the apprenticeship program.  Proof of purchase receipts must be submitted before reimbursement will be made. 
   *Students will be required to complete 300 hours of the apprenticeship to be eligible for reimbursement.
   *A signed letter from your apprenticeship supervisor/foreman will be required to verify that the 300 hour requirement has been met.

Pheasants are Forever Scholarship Opportunity

 $1000 scholarship to a senior in one of the county’s high schools that applies and meets the following criteria:

  • Is a student in good standing and graduates in 2024
  • Is pursuing a degree at a four year institution of higher learning
  • Said degree is in the area of the environment, wildlife conservation, wildlife biology, or conservation enforcement.
  • Must submit their higher institution first semester grades and proof of continuing enrollment
