Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
At Wabasha-Kellogg Public Schools, we believe every student deserves a school environment where they feel safe, supported, and valued. To help create that environment, we proudly implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)—a proven framework used in schools across Minnesota to promote positive school climates and improve student outcomes.
At W-K, PBIS is known as The Falcon Way.
The Falcon Way
The Falcon Way represents our shared commitment to creating a culture of academic excellence through a safe, respectful, and responsible learning community. These expectations guide how students and staff interact with one another and how we engage within our school environment each day.
The Falcon Way is embedded throughout the school experience. It is reinforced in classrooms, hallways, school transportation, school events, and any setting where student behavior reflects on our school community. Teachers explicitly teach expected behaviors for different areas of the school, helping students understand what it looks like to be a positive member of a learning community.
When students know what is expected and are consistently supported in meeting those expectations, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and thrive—both in and out of the classroom.
Throughout the year, activities and celebrations are connected to The Falcon Way to reinforce positive behavior and build a strong school culture. These lessons not only support success at school but also extend into students’ homes and broader community experiences.
What PBIS Looks Like at W-K
Through The Falcon Way, students learn to:
- Be respectful
- Be responsible
- Be safe
These simple but powerful expectations help guide behavior and decision-making across all grade levels.
By consistently teaching, modeling, and reinforcing these expectations, Wabasha-Kellogg fosters a positive learning environment where all students are empowered to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
At Wabasha-Kellogg, The Falcon Way helps ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging, understands expectations, and is supported in becoming their best self.
