Wabasha-Kellogg Public Schools is proud to recognize Secondary Social Studies Teacher Mrs. Johna Nelson as the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year. The honor celebrates her dedication to students, innovative teaching practices, and leadership within the school community.
Known for making history come alive through engaging lessons and interactive activities, Mrs. Nelson creates a classroom environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed. Students describe her as approachable and encouraging, while colleagues admire her commitment to helping every learner grow.
Mrs. Nelson continually seeks opportunities to expand learning experiences for students and will introduce CIS World Civics as a new course offering next year. As Secondary Principal Chad Pederson shared, "Johna not only wants students to learn, but to enjoy learning, instill confidence, and believe in themselves."
