2019-2020 Section 1A Assistant Coach of the Year

Another incredible achievement for the Wabasha-Kellogg wrestling program as longtime assistant coach Scott Lamey was selected as the 2019-2020 Section 1A Assistant Coach of the Year! Scott’s dedication to our program has been nothing short of admirable.

Starting his coaching career in 1985-86, Scott Lamey has seen hundreds of wins, hundreds of losses, hundreds of wrestling matches/athletes and has logged many, many hours in high school gymnasiums. He has always been a constant figure mat side for Wabasha-Kellogg. A hardy hand shake, slap on the back or inspiring? words of wisdom (in that deep Lamey voice) would always follow a hard fought match. He has been Ron Sander’s right hand man for about 35 years and the W-K team has gained countless wins due to his strategic visions of how matches should end up, by forfeiting one guy and moving another up or down a weight. It’s fair to say W-K Falcons/Indians wrestling program would not have been the same without him. Thank you Scott, for your time, knowledge, stories, dedication and most of all, love for our teams. This award is VERY well deserved.
