W-K Spelling Bee Crowns a Champion

The Wabasha-Kellogg annual spelling bee was held on Friday, January 12th. Eight spellers advanced from the grade level (classroom) competitions. They were fifth graders Grahmm Klaus and Caden Kohrs; sixth graders Robert Cushman and Hannah Johnson; seventh graders Katie Cushman and Victoria Wallerich; and eighth graders Sydney Lavelle and Wyatt Wendt. Wyatt Wendt was unable to compete and alternate Emma Passe took his place. After eighteen rounds of competition, the championship word, infraction, was spelled correctly by Emma Passe making her the school champion. Second place winner is Caden Kohrs. Emma and Caden now will prepare for the first round of the regional spelling bee in Rochester on February 13th. The third place finisher is Victoria Wallerich. If Emma or Caden can’t attend on the 13th, Victoria will be asked to fill the spot.
