The National Merit Scholarship Program announced that 300 students from Minnesota have been named semifinalists for 2018, and Olivia Sailer of Wabasha-Kellogg is one of the semifinalists in this elite group of senior students.
Olivia and 299 Minnesota seniors are among about 16,000 semifinalists named as part of the annual academic competition. Students were selected based on scores on a PSAT qualifying test, and will now compete for some 7,500 scholarships worth more than $32 million, to be awarded this spring.
This nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. This is an amazing honor. Congratulations Olivia Sailer!
